Building Stronger Communities Through Mental Health First Aid

I had the opportunity to facilitate an Adult Mental Health First Aid training in St. Clair County—and I left with a gentle reminder:
The little moments matter.

There was a point during the training where I intentionally connected an activity back to something a participant had shared earlier in the day. When I brought it back, she lit up. She fully stepped into the role, and what followed was something you can’t script—laughter, engagement, and a room that felt energized and connected.
Even when the activity went a little off script, I let it breathe. Because in that moment, the learning wasn’t just happening—it was being experienced.
That’s the part of this work I value most.
Mental Health First Aid isn’t about being the expert in the room or having all the answers. It’s about creating space where people feel seen, supported, and confident enough to show up for one another.
And moments like that remind me why this work matters.
I’m also proud to share that I’m currently at 29% on my journey toward the March to 5 Million initiative—helping expand access to mental health literacy and support in our communities.
Grateful for every room, every participant, and every opportunity to be part of something bigger 🧡🐨
If your organization is looking to bring Mental Health First Aid to your team, I’m always open to connecting!
