Mental Health First Aid at Chester Mental Health Center: 22 Individuals, One Shared Purpose

One of my most rewarding Mental Health First Aid experiences was facilitating a two-day Adult Mental Health First Aid course for 22 staff members at Chester Mental Health Center.
Over the course of the training, participants explored how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, practice supportive conversations, and connect individuals with appropriate resources. What stood out most was the level of engagement in the room. Participants brought thoughtful questions, real-world experiences, and a genuine desire to better support those they serve.
Mental Health First Aid is more than a certification course—it's an opportunity to build confidence, reduce stigma, and strengthen communities. I left the training encouraged by the commitment these professionals demonstrated toward creating a more supportive environment for those experiencing mental health challenges.
Thank you to Chester Mental Health Center for investing in mental health education and making these important conversations a priority.
